Braids of any kind are a super hot trend right now. Recently, Olivia Wilde made a TV appearance sporting a Heidi braid. Earlier this year at the Kids’ Choice Awards, Kristen Stewart wore a fishtail braid, exuding a sense of casual elegance. This look can best be accomplished with the use of texturizing products such as Fekkai Perfectly Luscious Curls Activating Spray. Sasha Coefield is a hairstyle guru with a YouTube channel that boasts over 120,000 followers. She recently wrote a book called DIY Braids that has easy-to-follow instructions and helpful tips for creating stunning looks.
Modern day Marilyn
Christina Aguilera’s back on the scene looking very hot and very lean. Her Marilyn Monroe look on The Voice was all thanks to celebrity hair stylist David Babaii. “I call Christina my modern day Marilyn Monroe because she has all the curves, beauty and gorgeous blondeness that the actress possessed,” he said. “In tribute to both, I wanted to create my interpretation of the actresses’ iconic look merged by merging the past with the present.”
Here’s what he did to get the look!
Applied Big Sexy Hair Big Boost, an amplifying, texturizing and defining creme that helps create and re-create touchable, flexible styles with voluminous results.
Blow dryed with a medium round brush to form lift at the base.
Used a 1” curling iron to create loops by wrapping hair sections around the inside of the barrel, leaving the ends free. After each loop was created, wrapped it again, but around two fingers.
Secured with a clip to allow the spiral curls to cool.
When finished, removed all the clips and gently started finger combing through the curls.
Pumped up the volume with Big Sexy Hair Powder Play for instant lift.
Finished it off with Big Sexy Hair Spray & Play, a fast drying hair spray that leaves hair manageable and super shiny.
Glee’s Jenna Ushkowitz looked great at the American Music Awards. Celebrity hair stylist Helen Jeffers created a simple blowed-out look with maximum shine and great curls at the bottom. Here’s how to do what she did:
Section off hair into three main parts. The first begins at the bangs and ends at the base of the neck. The other two, one on each side, run from the crown to below the ears.
Now make ½-inch deep sections across each main part, spraying with a generous application of Bumble and Bumble Tonic Lotion and Bumble and Bumble Thickening Hairspray from root to tip. Apply the high heat setting of the hairdryer and a medium sized boar bristle round brush. Pay particular attention to the roots to give them volume.
After blowdrying, set and pin hair until the entire head is done.
Sometimes a woman needs to go beyond her means and splurge for the necessities. We don’t mean to buy a Chanel pencil over the Stila brand, but we do mean things you actually need that you don’t know you need. Get it? So here’s what we got for you, ladies:
Cashmere! Yes — lots of cashmere. With the colder months coming up and snow just around the corner, nothing will leave you feeling toastier than a Red Twist Cashmere sweater wrap. Made from 100% of the softest and warmest pure cashmere, these sweaters come in 15 different colors and are about $175 each. You can definitely feel good about the purchase though, since a portion of all proceeds go to sending underprivileged girls to school.

Everyone looks better with a tan. That’s one of the 10 Commandments, right?
To keep your skin healthy and still maintain a bronze goddess glow, try using one of these five favorite self-tanners. Skin cancer is definitely not hot, so keep out of tanning beds and always use an SPF when going into the sun.
Here are some of our favorite products:
360° Eco-Mist from Norvell is really awesome and gives you that “just off the beach” glow. When it comes to sunless tanning technology, this brand has been voted as number one by salons across the country. This mist is easy to apply and provides long-lasting results without making you look orange – or worse – streaky! Eco Mist uses a natural complex of ingredients that are eco-certified and organic. They’re also 100% vegan and gluten-free. Available at Ulta. ($16)
bareMinerals is a brand that we at BBB just love! Their Faux Tan Body gives you an all-over bronze glow that develops into a natural looking, golden tan. A mineral copper complex prolongs the tanning effects, while aloe vera provides hydration so skin feels soft and smooth. bareMinerals claims a streak-free application within hours of applying. Buy it here for $26.
Another one of our favorites is Neutrogena. The brand is well-known for their acne-fighting creams and serums, so you wouldn’t necessarily think they also make a kick-ass self-tanning spray. Enter: MicroMist Airbrush Sunless Tan. This ultra-fine mist has a one-touch continuous spray that works at any angle to get those hard to reach places. No more random streaks or missed spots! Buy it here for $11.
For those of you who are too nervous to take the plunge into self-tanning in fear of turning orange, look no further than the Bronze Buffer. It’s the only product that wipes away the faux tan color instantly if you make a mistake! This soft cushioned sponge has no added ingredients or chemicals. With just a little water, Bronze Buffer’s gentle abrasion removes unwanted self-tanner on the uppermost layers of skin. It’s recommended to use this product on trouble spots like elbows and knees, fingers and toes. You can get two sponges for $10 here.
It seems like the older I get, the less long and full my lashes feel. Anyone else? I wish I could rewind the time and listen to my mom when she’d say, “Wash off your eye makeup before bed!” Alas, I’d imbibed too many drinks by that point and could only think about my “smokey” eyes getting some shut-eye on the pillow.
Keeping your lashes long means taking care of them. Eyeliners and mascaras, no matter the ingredients – organic or not – should be washed off before bed every night. Understandably, there might be the occasional evening of such debauchery that all you can think of later is whether that cute boy you gave your number to will call you. Naturally, such thoughts can impair your better judgments and you just might forget to wash your makeup off. That’s okay. We’re saying to get in the habit of doing it most nights.
There are also products to help make the look you like become more natural (and we don’t mean the kind where you have to go into the doctor’s office for treatments!): Grande Natural and its new GrandLASH Enhancer Boosting System includes GrandLINER. This double-duty liner also claims to enhance lashes in 4-6 weeks. Their mascara claims to do the same – and here’s how:
Hyaluronic acid: This water-binding ingredient helps naturally promote long lashes.
Peptides: An effective combination of amino acids, which are the building blocks of protein.
Pantethine: This active form of pantothenic acid helps soothe the lash base and gives it that healthy balance.
Hydrolyzed glycosaminoglycans: Sure, that sounds like a mouthful, but this highly effective moisturizing and hydrating agent has conditioning properties that helps moisture and add sheen to lashes.
CITY LASH is another product on the market that’s been receiving a lot of praise. The product claims to increase your lash line by up to 72% with no side effects by using clinically proven ingredients (SymPeptide™) and the newest lash treatment technology. What’s more, you’ll start seeing those results within two weeks! CITY LASH is safe, natural, fragrance free, and contains no prostaglandin or paraben, which can damage eyes and skin. You can even apply it to your brows for a more thickening effect!
CITY LASH should be used twice daily on clean, dry skin before you put on any makeup. You can purchase it here and one tube costs $80.
