DIY Coconut Milk Hair Conditioner

Don’t get me wrong, I buy conditioner at the drug store. But there are times when I’ve forgotten to add it to my list and my hair won’t wait another day to be shampooed and conditioned. When I’m in a pinch this is my favorite conditioner using items I usually have around the house.

DIY Ginger Detox Bath

A hot bath is a necessity for relaxing tense muscles and opening congested pores. Adding ginger to your bath will enhance these qualities. Everything from back pain, to menstrual cramps and joint stiffness will respond to ginger baths. Research at the University of Sydney has found it may also reduce pain and inflammation with the help of compounds called gingerols — which have a similar structure to capsaicin, a known pain reliever.

Who needs a spa when you can have a detoxifying bath with a few inexpensive ingredients.

I recommend soaking in this bath for 15 – 20 minutes. Please remember that the ginger bath will make you sweat profusely for at least an hour afterwards, so wear a bathrobe or towel. I am not a doctor. If you’re concerned about how this will affect you, please check with your doctor before trying.

A Few Lip Favorites

I will be the first one to admit, I am addicted to lip balms and salves. For some bizarre reason, I live in constant fear of dry and flaky lips. As a connoisseur, I’m always down to try a new lip balm! Today I thought I would share a few of my go to products.

To combat flaky lips, exfoliation is key. The easiest way to get rid of the dead skin is to simply scrub your lips with your toothbrush for a couple seconds after you brush your teeth. This also stimulates blood flow and makes your lips look plump. A pinch of sugar also does the job quite well!

While I have a couple lipsticks, I usually opt for tinted balms when I want a splash of color. The Neutrogena Revitalizing balms are my all time favorite!

If I just want a balm with no color, my two favorites are from Smith and Kiehl’s. Smith’s makes a rose scented balm that is truly a holy grail product — but this strawberry one is quite nice as well! I have never been disappointed with anything from Kiehl’s. Their mango balm is a tropical oasis for the driest of lips.
