It’s February! It feels like New Years was five minutes ago but, here we are. It’s the month of V-Day and an early paycheck! Here’s what you should be doing during the month of heart shaped candies and Random Act of Kindness Day.
Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling
In the book, Mindy dishes on everything from getting zits before big interviews to her confusion on “hooking up”. I loved everything about this book. It’s witty, charming, honest and unlike many celebrity memoirs, incredibly relatable. In the beginning of the book she talks about some of the other titles she came up with for the book, one being, “Always Wear Flats & Have Your Friends Sleep Over: A Step-by-Step Guide for Avoiding Getting Murdered” It’s like she read my diary!
Tegan and Sara – Heartthrob
Tegan and Sara are an identical twin, Canadian, rocking duo. If you like emotionally charged, glossy power pop, I definitely recommend giving these two a listen. I’ve rocked out to their tunage everywhere from road trips to folding laundry. Their latest album Heartthrob dropped at the end of January and deserves a listen clear through February.
So, the obvious thing here would be to tell you what movies to see in theatres. But, I’m going for cheap entertainment on this one, ladies. Here’s my iTunes rental pick. (If you hurry it’s the pick of the week i.e. 99 cents!)
Safety Not Guarenteed
When an unusual classified ad inspires three cynical Seattle magazine employees to look for the story behind it, they discover a mysterious eccentric named Kenneth, a likable but paranoid supermarket clerk, who believes he’s solved the riddle of time travel and intends to depart again soon. Together, they embark on a hilarious, smart, and unexpectedly heartfelt journey that reveals how far believing can take you. — (C) Official Site
I had no expectations going into this movie. My boo and I downloaded it because we recognized most of the actors and I’m a sucker for low budget indie movies. I was pleasantly surprised! Great script, great actors, and a heartfelt story. (Personally, I recommend watching with some chocolate and your favorite bottle of cheap wine. – My favorite at the moment – http://www.cellarno8.com/)
A multi-purpose lip balm that soothes everything from dry lips to elbows and minor burns. A relatively well kept secret of the cosmetics world, this stuff has been around since 1892, so I’m thinking they know what’s up when it comes to skin irritation. As a chapstick junkie, I’ll say that I’ve found my new drug of choice and I look super hipster and “with it” when applying it in public.
