So I’m getting ready for my Valentine’s date and I catch a glance of my very naked nails. A firm believer in nails being one of the best accessories, I love having my nails done with the brightest and newest colors, but they’ve been so unfortunately bare for months now. With the craziness of moving, traveling, and getting settled into San Diego again, I just haven’t been giving my nails the sweet attention they’ve so deserved.
In a hurried frenzy, I whipped out my hottest, sparkliest pink I owned and painted on a couple coats. Choosing Revlon’s Really Red lipstick and sporting my newly painted nails, I kept the outfit simple and let the bright colors be my bold and bright accessories for the evening.
One of my style mottos is “less is more.” A bright lipstick or some fresh nail art are great ways to get your accessories in without sporting bangles and chains. If you’re looking for some fresh nail makeovers, HelloGiggles has a segment entitled Nails of the Day where a reader’s original nail art is spotlighted. Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips are also great for trying something new. Admittedly, I was a super skeptic when my college roommate brought these babies from a Target shopping spree; but I tried them and loved them. They stayed on through showering, cooking, dishwashing - highly recommend them if you’re wanting a fresh look but don’t have the patience to do the nail art on your own [such as myself].
Next time you’re struggling to find that perfect accessory for your night out, spruce up those nails and let ‘em shine. Nails are an accessory too!
