With the new year comes new resolutions, new plans and new ideas about what the year will hold.
“This is the year I make six figures.”
“This is the year we buy a house.”
“This is the year I get hired at my dream job.”
“This is the year I become the person I’ve always wanted to be.”
I think making New Year’s resolutions, setting tangible goals for yourself, and planning for the future can be extremely beneficial. After all, a goal without a plan is just a wish, right?
I am quite the planner, myself. I enjoy making plans, setting goals, writing lists and making things happen. I am power woman! Hear me roar!
But sometimes that means I get in my own way.
Not to sound like some kind of soothsayer, but in my twenty-two years on this earth I’ve come to realize that sometimes the best plans I’ve had for myself haven’t been nearly as amazing as those that God has planned for me.
Sure, make plans for the things you can control. Smile more. Treat those around you with respect. Spend less money and still live bougie. Do your best at whatever task or goal you’ve got in front of you. But then have a little faith that Someone Up There might have a better plan for you than you could ever imagine.
I hope you all have a blessed and joyful 2014!
