Not So New Year

The month of December requires many “fancy” outfits. From Christmas mass to a flurry of work parties, there’s a different function every weekend and because many of the same people attend these functions, I don’t want to have any outfit repeats.

It’s tempting around this time of year to go out and buy a different festive dress for each event. This year, I promised myself I would only revamp pieces I already have.

I bought this black dress two years ago for my college graduation and it hasn’t disappointed! That’s the great thing about a classic black dress — you can wear it so many different ways!

For a recent holiday party, I wanted to make the dress a bit more boho and effortless. Nothing achieves that better than a kimono. I’ve had this one since the spring and love how it works for the winter season as well.

I added a simple belt to highlight my shape and black tights to stay warm. This pair of black booties from Rockport are surprisingly comfortable and seem to go with every dress I own!
