Target is one of my favorite stores. I usually have a very practical reason for going there – “I need a new trash can.” “I need cute storage for Christmas decorations.” You know what I’m talking about. But then, I walk out with at least three things that were not on my list to purchase. I usually end up with clothes from the 75 % off rack, some of that Cupcake wine that is too cute not to buy, and some trash bags or something. Target is an affordable indulgence and I can usually find at least one excuse per week to make a trip to the bullseye.
When it comes to Target and fashion, the company basically pioneered cheap chic. With successful collaborations with American designer Isaac Mizarahi as well as the Italian label Missoni, it was only a matter of time before big box store would bring high fashion to the average shopper once again.
We won’t get into their collaboration last year with Neiman Marcus (TOTAL flop). I want to talk about their latest and incredibly successful collaboration with designer Prabal Gurung. Born in Singapore and raised in Nepal, this designer first came on the fashion scene in 2009. This spring, he has partnered with Target to bring runway chic to the everyday Target-er at affordable prices.
This campaign initially caught my eye because Olivia Thirlby is the spokesperson and Juno is my favorite movie (“Honest to blog!”). Then I flipped through the lookbook for the collection and was instantly a fan. The designer was inspired by love, hence the name, LOVE. Most items are available for under $50! From the flirty skirts to the bright blue leather jacket, the collection is fun with just the right amount of refinement. You can purchase the pieces by “looks” or just pick and choose individual items. Some Target locations sold out in a day! Below are some of my favorite looks. Drop by a Target near you and get chic without dropping serious cash.
Rock some LOVE in (or out of) the office!
